After extensive training Dr. Cappa went into private practice in New Windsor NY in 1992. Dr. Cappa is double board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and in Wound Care by CMET. He has successfully completed the credentialling and examination process and has demonstrated knowledge of podiatric surgery and wound care, including the diagnosis of general medical problems and surgical management of foot diseases, deformities and trauma of the foot, ankle and related structures. Dr. Cappa is also a member of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.

He is currently the medical director at St. Lukes Cornwall Hospital Wound Care Center and Hyperbaric Center located at the south campus. He is also current Chief of Podiatric surgery. He is a founding member of the Academy of Wound Care and certified in Hyperbaric Oxygen Wound Care Therapy through the UHMS.
